NUEVA YORK. _ El consulado general dominicano anunció una rebaja de $35 dólares en el trámite de la ciudadanía dominicana para hijos de padres dominicanos, nacidos en los Estados Unidos o cualquier otro país del mundo.
El cónsul general Eligio Jaquez, dijo que anuncia con beneplácito la reducción del costo, dando cumplimiento a las promesas que hizo a la comunidad dominicana en los estados en jurisdicción de la sede consular, Nueva York, Nueva Jersey, Pensilvania y Connecticut.
El documento que antes costaba $165 dólares ahora costará $130.
Un comunicado de la Oficina de Prensa y Comunicaciones del consulado, explica que la administración de Jaquez tiene marcado interés en que los hijos de los dominicanos y dominicanas que han nacido en el extranjero adquieran la ciudadanía dominicana como una forma de acercarse más a los valores, historia, tradiciones y herencia dominicanista y puedan levantar el orgullo patrio.
Jáquez hizo un llamado a los padres dominicanos para que al tiempo que aprovechan la rebaja para ahora pagar 130.00 dólares y no 165.00 como era antes, también les den la oportunidad a sus hijos e hijas de tener la nacionalidad dominicana, la cual les permitirá obtener la cédula de identidad y electoral, ejercer el voto y adquirir otros derechos en el país de sus padres.
El funcionario diplomático recordó que de acuerdo con el artículo 18 de la constitución dominicana, capítulo V, de la sección sobre la nacionalidad, se establece que “son dominicanos y dominicanas los hijos e hijas de madre o padre dominicanos; los nacidos en el extranjero, de padre o madre dominicanos, no obstante haber adquirido, por el lugar de nacimiento, una nacionalidad distinta a la de sus padres.
La Carta Magna también confiere que una vez alcanzada la edad de 18 años, podrán manifestar su voluntad, ante la autoridad competente de asumir la doble nacionalidad o renunciar a una de ellas.
“Quienes contraigan matrimonios con un dominicano o dominicana, siempre que obtengan por la nacionalidad de su cónyuge y cumplan con los requisitos establecidos por la Ley; los descendientes directos de dominicanos residentes en el exterior, las personas naturalizadas de conformidad con las condiciones y formalidades requeridas por Ley”, cita el texto constitucional.
Jaquez explicó que el mismo capítulo sobre la doble nacionalidad reconoce a dominicanas o dominicanos la facultad de adquirir una nacionalidad extranjera y la adquisición de otra nacionalidad no implica la pérdida de la nacionalidad dominicana.
“Nosotros estamos impulsando el fervor patriótico al solicitar a los padres de República Dominicana para que sus hijos e hijas busquen la nacionalidad de sus orígenes, ya que ello garantiza mantener vivas las costumbres, el vínculo con los ancestros de sus padres, así como la cultura de su país de origen”, añadió Jáquez.
Exhortó a los padres quisqueyanos a estimular la doble nacionalidad de sus hijos y aprovechar el concepto de un Gobierno decente que procura lo mejor para sus ciudadanos y ciudadanas.
Dijo que la nacionalidad dominicana es un sentimiento que va más allá de las fronteras y que nos invita a enarbolar nuestra bandera y cantar en tono alto el himno nacional en cualquier lugar donde nos encontremos como hijos e hijas de la patria de Duarte, Sánchez y Mella.
Jáquez también enumeró otros beneficios que ofrece la doble ciudadanía o la ciudadanía dominicana para los nacidos en Estados Unidos o cualquier otro lugar del planeta como el pago de menos impuestos en negocios e inversiones, abrir cuentas en los bancos, no pagar impuestos de estadía y procesos migratorios, la adquisición del pasaporte y realizar poderes legales en cualquier consulado dominicano en el mundo.
El cónsul dijo que en la sede consular existe una oficina habilitada exclusivamente para esos trámites que favorecen a los hijos e hijas de padres y madres dominicanos en el exterior.
Jáquez afirmó que la rebaja de los $35 dólares primero en las carta de ruta y luego en los pagos de los trámites de la adquisición de la ciudadanía dominicana forman parte de varios servicios que serán rebajados de precios el próximo año 2021 como se había prometido en las campañas electorales.
